AMV Contest

The Northern Anime Festival AMV (Anime Music Video) Contest is open to everyone, with the exception of Northern Anime Festival staff members. Submissions are open to convention volunteers. Staff may submit videos for screening, but are not eligable to in awards.

There are three categories for submission:

Novice - For the first-time AMV creators, or those who have never entered an AMV contest before.

Open - For everyone else. Novices may enter in the open category if they choose.

Non-Competiton - For those who have an AMV they would like to showcase, but are not eligible or interested in the contest.

Criteria

  • File sizes should be 300mb or under.

  • They should be in a common format such as MPEG or AVI. Divx will be tolerated however might affect judging (IE Divx logo in the corner). Other file formats will not be accepted.

  • Footage used must be at least 80% anime or video game related.

  • Music or videos with graphic content may be submitted for judging, but may not be screened at the convention.

Once you have submitted your application the AMV Co-ordinator will reply back with information on how to submit your video. You will need FTP access, for which you will be given instructions and log-in information.

  • You will only have access to upload video.

  • There will be no access to download videos.

  • If your upload does not finish for whatever reason and there is only a partial file, contact the AMV Co-Ordinator.

Please have an understanding on how FTP works and a program to use ahead of time. The AMV Co-Ordinator will not tell you how to setup your program or provide instructions on how to upload.

If You Encounter An Error

When emailing the AMV co-Ordinator with a connection issue please state the following so he can narrow down the error message. If you fail to do this, you might not get your question/problem answered.

  • Date/Time in EST.

  • FTP program used.

  • If you are behind a firewall or not.

  • If it's a partial upload, how big is the total size of the video?
